EAGLE, Idaho (CBS2) — According to a Facebook post, Eagle Police arrested two men early Monday morning after catching them breaking into a vacant home on Floating Feather Road.
Detectives connected the duo to other theft cases from earlier this year, including the theft of several large landscape crystals from a yard in the Laguna Pointe neighborhood.
Officers caught Bennett hiding behind furniture inside a vacant home on Floating Feather around 2 a.m. on Monday. They found Perkins holding a bag with a crowbar inside, hiding next to a tree on the property a short time later.
Detectives identified Bennett as a suspect in connection with a break-in at the same property earlier this month. Detectives developed evidence of the duo stealing various items from the Floating Feather property, including a kiln and some decorative glass.
Bennett stole large landscaping crystals from a yard on Laguna Drive on July 31. Police found the portions of the crystals, the kiln, the decorative glass and other items at Bennett's residence, including a seated electric scooter reported stolen from the side of Idaho 44 in April.
Randy L. Bennett and Mark J. Perkins are being held in the Ada County Jail on felony burglary charges. The 46-year-old Bennett is also charged with felony grand theft.
Detectives are investigating if Bennett and Perkins could be connected to other break-ins in the area.
Bennett is held on a $55,000 bond, and Perkins on a $50,000 bond.
