Boogie competed in the Best in Underbite category on the “2020 American Rescue Dog Show” on Feb. 17 on the Hallmark Channel.

Boogie, an alumnus of Maui Humane Society, competed in the “2020 American Rescue Dog Show” on Feb. 17 on the Hallmark Channel. The show, now in its third year, focuses the spotlight on dogs adopted from shelters and rescue organizations.

Boogie competed in the Best in Underbite category along with six other competitors from across the country. The $5,000 prize went to a dog named Ravioli that was adopted from Animal Care Centers of NYC.

Boogie came into the Maui Humane Society last spring with a life-threatening medical condition requiring a risky surgery to insert a liver shunt. The MHS veterinary staff performed this procedure and Boogie was then placed into a foster home to recover. Jamie-Sue West, who is a volunteer at MHS, and who has fostered nearly 80 animals in the past two years, fostered and then adopted Boogie thereby becoming a “foster failure” for the very first time, according to an announcement.

“We love our volunteers and foster families and we are so happy for Boogie and his mom, Jamie Sue,” said Steve MacKinnon, CEO, Maui Humane Society.
