Balls Mahoney was an American professional wrestler best know for his appearances with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). He was a three time ECW Tag Team Champion. He was born Jonathan Rechner on April 11, 1972 in Spring Lake Heights, New Jersey.
CAREER
Mahoney made his wrestling debut with the World Wrestling Council in 1987. He was 15 years old at the time. He wrestled under the alias ‘Abbudah Singh’ from 1987-1990. He continued his young career at Smoky Mountain Wrestling in 1994 under the alias ‘Boo Bradley’. He was a two-time winner of ‘SMW Beat the Champ’. Mahoney joined the World Wrestling Federation briefly in 1995. He fought under the alias ‘Xanta Klaus’ before being released in 1996.
Mahoney made his ECW debut in 1997. He wrestled alongside ‘Axl Rotten’ and the two were oftentimes referred to as “The Hardcore Chair Swingin’ Freaks”. He later partnered with Masato Tanaka to win the ECW World Tag Team Championship. His last match with ECW was the 2001 pay-per-view event, Guilty as Charged. Mahoney wrestled independently from 2001-2006. He joined WWE in 2005 wrestling on its ECW brand. He embarked on another solo career in 2008 following his release from WWE. His last match took place on December 6, 2015, at the DFC A Very Deathproof Christmas event.

Balls Mahoney died on April 12, 2016, at the age of 44, a day after his birthday. His official cause of death was a heart attack. He’s survived by his wife, Gayle Schechter, and son, Christopher. His son was named after the late wrestler, Chris Candido.
