Nampa Parks and Recreation January events

Nampa Parks and Recreation has released their January 2023 schedule. Some of the activities include:

Soccer Tykes

These youth soccer classes are designed to encourage a sense of empowerment and self-confidence in kids using a variety of fun soccer-enriched games. These classes will be on Saturdays starting January 7th through February 11th at the Harward Rec. center. Classes start at 9-9:50 am for ages 2-3, 10- 10:50 am for ages 4-5, and 11-11:50 for ages 6-7. The cost is $69 for center members and $79 for non- members.

Pickleball Lessons.

Pickleball is a combination of badminton, tennis, and ping pong. It is played on a badminton size court using a wiffle ball and composite paddle. It is easy for beginners to learn and can develop into competitive play for experienced players. Gym shoes are required. The class is for active older adults. Classes are on Tuesdays from 1- 2:30 pm at the Harward Rec Center and start on January 3rd and go through the 24th. The cost is $75 for members and $82 for non-members.

Bogus Basin Snowshoeing

Join us on January 10th from 9am- 2pm as we venture to Bogus Basin for snowshoeing adventures followed by a stop at the Frontier Pointe Nordic Lodge. Includes transportation, trail pass, and snowshoeing. Limited snowshoes are available for use. Pack your own lunch and bring water. Registration fee of $25 is due January 6th, we will be departing from and returning to the Harward Rec center.

Bob Ross Style Painting

Have you ever wanted to paint? Do you think it is possible for you to walk away with a painting that anyone would be proud to display on their wall? Well, it IS. And you CAN! All supplies are included to complete a 12” x 16” painting in class. The first class will be January 14th and the second class will be held January 28th from 1-4pm at the Harward Rec center. The cost is $75 for members and $85 for non-members.

Red Cross Lifeguard Training

This course is designed for experienced swimmers ages 15 and older that want to become Red Cross Lifeguards. Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications are awarded upon successful completion of the course. Course prerequisites are: 300-yard swim using front crawl and breaststroke, retrieval of a 10-pound brick from 7ft of water and two minutes of treading water with no hands. If you are unsure whether you can complete the prerequisites, sign up for a skills evaluation. Refund requests must be made 4 business days before the start of class. Classes are on Saturdays from 10am-5pm starting January 21st through February 11th. The cost is $150 for members and $200 for non-members.
